A couple of months ago, I came up with one idea. I understood that developers share their code only in text variants on GitHub or Bitbucket. But it’s the era of video formats. I started to work on the tool that turns your code into video in several clicks. You don’t need any skills in video editing to create such tutorials because the tool is doing everything instead of you.

By the way, I already built the MVP, the tool is available for HTML and CSS, and you can try it right now. To improve it and from beta to make the diamond, I need people for user interviews. So, if you’re FRONTEND DEVELOPER or UX DESIGNER, let’s catch up for a 30 min call

While doing the tech part, I understood that I need pre-subscribers, and it’s impossible to get them with no promo. As far as my potential customers are developers and designers who would like to become social media stars, I started with TikTok.

TikTok is quickly becoming one of the most popular social media platforms. In Q1 of 2022, TikTok had over 1 billion monthly active users. That’s a lot of potential customers! So, how can I reach them?

Here are my 5 tips for successful marketing on TikTok:

  1. Pick Your Goal The first step in any promotional campaign is to set your goal. What do you want to achieve with your campaign? Are you looking to increase brand awareness? Drive traffic to your website? Boost sales? In my case, it was — to tell people about the tool and get as many pre-subscribers as possible till the launch.
  2. Make Sure Your Profile Is Complete Before you start creating content, make sure your profile is complete. This means filling out your bio, choosing a profile picture, and adding a link to your website or landing page (possible only after 1000 followers, nice motivation, by the way). You must make it as easy as possible for potential customers to find you and learn more about your product or service.

3. Use Hashtags Hashtags are a great way to reach your audiences on TikTok. When you use relevant hashtags, your videos will be discoverable by people who are searching for that particular topic. In my case, I prepared a list of hashtags such as #100daysofcode or #developerstools and use them with all videos I publish

4. Create Engaging Videos As we know, TikTok is all about videos. So, to be successful on the platform, you need to create videos capturing people’s attention. They should be either helpful or funny. Try to follow trends and use popular music/sounds. It’s changing rapidly, so you need to follow trends

5. Comment on influencers in your niche. I researched bloggers on the topic of front-end development and used every possibility to reach their followers by commenting on the video. But smartly, not to seem like a mass commenting or spam. My comments were 1000% related to the context of the video.

These 5 tips helped me to get 1000 followers on TikTok and receive 117 pre-subscribers for codeinvid.io.

And you can help me to turn the pre-subscribers into real clients by giving your feedback on the tool. Try it out and drop me a line or schedule the call for a user interview, just 30min of your time and +100 to karma :)
